Mary Kay is Recipient of 'Do Good' Stamp

Lauded for foundation's work to end domestic violence.
Mary Kay is one of eight philanthropic brands to be honored with the first-ever Ladies’ Home Journal “Do Good” stamp, announced in the December/January issue of the magazine. The prestigious insignia recognizes companies that go above and beyond in the philanthropic arena – an area that Mary Kay bases its company foundation on, according to the company.To receive the stamp, a company’s charitable works must involve its consumers and employees, be innovative and achieve results.
Mary Kay, through its charitable arm The Mary Kay Foundation, is dedicated to helping eradicate domestic violence. The company’s efforts to end domestic abuse include a campaign encouraging lawmakers to legislate violence prevention education, partnering with the nonprofit Break the Cycle to sponsor the Ending Violence classroom DVD and contributing more than $18 million over the past nine years to domestic violence shelters.
From May 2009 to Dec. 15, 2009, $1 from the U.S. sales of Beauty That Counts Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Gingerbread and limited-edition Pink Passion will be donated to the Mary Kay Foundation’s efforts to end domestic violence. In 2010, Mary Kay will continue their Beauty That Counts initiative, donating proceeds from select shades of Creme Lipstick to help support victims of domestic violence.
Karen Rodgers, vice president of the board of the Mary Kay Foundation says, “My grandmother, Mary Kay Ash, was committed to enriching women’s lives. Through the Mary Kay Foundation, we are able to continue her legacy of giving by helping to bring an end to domestic violence.”
