Tarte: Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow

Natural cosmetic brand Tarte, known for its “skinvigorating” ingredients, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this Fall with a variety of limited edition products (http://www.happi.com/news/2010/06/22/tarte_turns_10).

The brand also decided to take the challenge of reformulating its popular Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow this summer.

Unlike traditional cream shadows that crease and smudge, Tarte Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadows feature a waterproof and longwearing formulation. A dual-ended, water-resistant cream/loose eyeshadow wand makes the product unique to others as you get double the product and both truly complement each other—hence the “lock” base and the “roll” accent color.

Happi sampled Moss, a golden sage green. The first step, the green cream shadow, applies cool and smooth (thanks to vitamin E, an antioxidant that acts as anti-inflammatory emollient) with a brush applicator. The hue looks darker upon application, but dries into a sheer wash once the second step, a rollerball of golden/green mineral pigment powder, is added. The formulation wears all day and fades nicely into a paler version of itself as opposed to clumping and striping on the eye.

Try layering the look with Tarte’s new EmphasEyes Aqua-Gel Eyeliner that captures the high-pigment concentration and staying power of a gel pot in an effortless pencil, no brush required.
