United-Guardian, Inc. posted a 4% slip in annual net sales of $13.8 million. However, net income rose 2% to $4.8 million for fiscal year 2012.

According to the company, it was able to achieve record earnings despite a production curtailment by the supplier of one of its pharmaceutical products, which caused a significant drop in the company’s shipments of that product for the second half of the year.

Ken Globus, president of United-Guardian, stated that sales of its personal care products, in particular the Lubrajel line of moisturizing and lubricating gels, increased enough to partially offset lost sales. The company plans to expand its personal care offerings with a line of Lubrajel Natural products.
