Ecolab Inc., the global leader in the industrial and institutional cleaning segment, is the latest company to harness the power of water. Today, Ecolab launched Hydris, an on-site generation system that combines water, electricity and mineral activator tablets with unique, patented electrolytic cell technology to produce three powerful daily cleaners that deliver affordable and sustainable cleaning for a variety of hard surfaces.

“Every commercial building has a range of surfaces, from polished stone to painted walls to glass partitions,” said Mark Copeland, VP-marketing, institutional division. “Getting them clean, every day, requires a system that’s effective, easy-to-use and affordable. Hydris marks Ecolab’s entry into sustainable electrolyzed water technologies for hard surface cleaning and will deliver powerful, cost-effective and sustainable cleaning solutions.”

Electrolized water isn’t new. Years ago, Tennant Company, Minneapolis, MN, rolled out water-based cleaning solutions for the I&I market. Most recently, Tennant’s Orbio 5000-Sc with OrbioSplit Stream technology has won top honors in the Australian Business Awards product innovation category. The Orbio 5000-Sc uses tap water, a small amount of salt and electricity to create an effective, multi-surface cleaning solution for use in floor scrubbers, carpet extractors and spray and wipe applications.
