Marionnaud, the European perfumery, is going greener. The chain is reworking its distribution plan for its 568 stores in France to cut down on its environmental impact. The move should eliminate one million miles driven by its vehicles this year, which represents a 35% on-year decrease.

Marionnaud will also use 67,000 fewer boxes yearly in its stockrooms, which (not taking into account brands’ gift sets) would cut its waste output by 45% versus 2009. The company is campaigning internally to raise awareness about the consumption of resources, such as water and energy, as well.

Finally, Marionnaud on March 25 opened a 2,055-square-foot location in Okabé, which is billed to be France’s first green shopping mall. It is located in Kremlin-Bicêtre, a Paris suburb. Marionnaud’s new perfumery there is the first of 21 openings and relocations expected in 2010 in France. It includes a “quick institute,” containing a nail bar and “flash” makeup services, among others.
