Kolmar To Louisiana?

Kolmar Labs is said to be seeking a move to Louisiana from its Port Jervis, NY location, according to an article in the Pike County Courier. In a Dec. 22 memorandum to employees, Kolmar CEO Rob Theroux wrotethat, “The company is still attempting to finalize a contract with the State (of Louisiana) and negotiate with a developer who will finance the project.”

He went on to predict that there would be no final answer on those issues before the end of this year.

New York State officials have made incentive offers to retain the cosmetics manufacturer, but tax and operating costs and business losses in the down economy have hurt the company.

Kolmar isone ofthe largest employer in Port Jervis, NY, employing some 500-700 local workers, some of who reside in Pike County.

Theroux also provided performance data in his memorandum, reporting, “the fourth quarter is busier than the first three quarters and we may slightly offset some of our previous losses. Kolmar PJ will still lose approximately $3 million for the entire year 2009.”
