Estee Lauder Elects Lynn Forester to Its Board

The board of directors of The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. has elected Lynn Forester as a director. Ms. Forester, 46, is co-chair of FirstMark Communications Europe, LLC, owner and operator of technology and telecommunications companies throughout Europe. From 1990 to 1997, Ms. Forester was president and CEO of FirstMark Communications Inc., a wireless broadband service company in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and San Francisco, which she sold to Teligent, Inc. in 1997. Prior to that, Ms. Forester was executive vice president for development at Metromedia Telecommunications, Inc. She began her career in 1980 as an associate at Simpson, Thacher and Bartlett, where she practiced corporate law until 1984.

Leonard A. Lauder, chairman of Estee Lauder, remarked, “We’re very pleased to have Lynn Forester join our Board of Directors. Her talents, expertise and global perspective will benefit the Company and its stockholders.”

Ms. Forester is replacing P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., who retired from the Board on November 9, 2000. Ms. Forester is a director of Next Level, Inc. She is chairman of the New York Scholarship Fund, and a director of the New York City Outward Bound Center and the Together Foundation. She formerly served on the boards of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, General Instrument Corporation and Mobile Satellite Corporation.
