US Patent No. 9,974,723 B2; Colgate-Palmolive Company has patented an oral care composition comprising calcium carbonate, a sodium carboxymethyl cellulose thickening agent; thickening silica and water. The ratio of thickening silica to water is from 1:5 to 1:8.5 by weight. The company has also been awarded a second patent (US 9,974,724 B1) which covers a dual-phase mouthwash composition. It contains an orally acceptable vehicle comprising a hydrophilic phase and a hydrophobic phase; a blue dye and/or a blue pigment having a blue to blue-violet color with a hue angle in the CIELAB system from about 200-320 degrees; a zinc salt; and cetylpyridinium chloride.
