US Patent No. 12,097,293 B2 (Fotios M. Plakogiannis, Tamanna Lather, Nisarg Modi, Marina Borovinskaya); Pike Therapeutics Inc., Vancouver, patented a pharmaceutical composition comprising cannabidiol (CBD), in a dosage form for transdermal delivery that lasts over seven days. The composition is comprised of a concentration of CBD (consisting of an amount between 1-15% w/w); 5-20% w/w of a solvent comprising propylene glycol; 1-20% w/w of a penetration enhancer comprising oleic acid; 2-15% w/w of at least one suspending agent comprising silicon dioxide; and 50- 80% w/w of a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive.
The pH of the composition is maintained at approximately 4.0 to 8.0.
