Candlemaker Blyth Inc., Greenwich, CT, reported its third quarter profit climbed 18%, as a recent acquisition helped boost sales. The company, which also makes potpourri and other home fragrance products, posted net income of $30.5 million for the quarter ended Oct. 31, compared with $25.9 million in the year-earlier period.

On Nov. 12, Blyth forecast a fiscal 2003 profit of more than $2 per share, before a $.10-per-share impact from an accounting change.

Sales rose 16% to $362.2 million, from $313.3 million a year earlier. Sales were up 8% before results from CBK Ltd., a home decor company Blyth acquired in May.
