● Helen of Troy Limited will acquire
from Unilever the rights to Brut in
the U.S., Canada and the rest of the
Western Hemisphere for $55 million.
Idelle Labs Ltd., a Helen of Troy subsidiary,
will market and sell the Brut
line of products. As part of the deal,
Helen of Troy also will receive existing
inventory of the Brut products,
which includes Brut fragrances,
deodorants and antiperspirants. The
deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2003.
Unilever also sold its U.S. and Canadian oral care brands
to Church & Dwight for $104 million. This acquisition
includes Mentadent toothpaste and toothbrushes, Pepsodent
and Aim toothpaste.
