NACD Announces 2003 Packaging Award Winners

The National Association of Container Distributors (NACD), Philadelphia, PA, announced the 2003 NACD Packaging award winners. Roto-Rooter’s 32- and 64-oz. custom HDPE drain opener bottles manufactured by Kaufman Container Co. received the “Best of Show” award. The handles are in the shape of a drainpipe. Roto-Rooter’s Septic Cleaner Root Killer package used a stock cylinder and special neck to accommodate the squeeze and turn closure.
Within the cosmetics & toiletries category, Avojuice Skin Quenchers were honored with the gold award. The 200- and 600ml Crystal Clear juice style containers, manufactured by Alico Packaging, showcased skin quenching products and clear eye-catching labels. The 2cc lotion pump was also functional. The silver award went to Nioxin Bionutrient and Protectives lines using 15 new blowmolds for the ribbed, oblong bottles and six injection molds for some of the two-piece closures from TricorBraun. Bath & Body Works’ Gentle Foaming hand soap was awarded the bronze. O. Berk Company’s trapezoidal, natural-colored HDPE bottles were used, showcasing a private mold and soft touch finish.
Method dish detergent was honored with the gold award under the household chemical category and features TricorBraun’s custom-designed LDPE and MDPE bottle that dispenses product from the bottom using the Simpli Squeeze closure. The silver award was given to Spic & Span Everyday featuring TricorBraun’s custom canister, open and shut closure and sleeve label.
