Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. today announced receipt of a government license to conduct business in Malaysia and anticipates the company will begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year. “Based upon our penetration of the neighboring Singapore market and our strong distributor force in the region, we feel Malaysia, with $430 million in annual direct sales, can become one of the company’s leading Southeast Asia markets,” said Steven J. Lund, president and chief executive officer.

To conduct business in Malaysia, regulations require domestic direct selling entities to have local business partners. Included among Nu Skin Enterprises’ partners for its Malaysian operations is a prominent businessman, Dato Mohd. Nadzmi bin Mohd. Salleh. Mr. Nadzmi began his career as an international marketing executive prior to assuming general management responsibilities with the Malaysian national automobile manufacturer. Among other distinguished positions of responsibility, Mr. Nadzmi currently serves as chairman for several public companies, including JT International, formerly a part of RJ Reynolds.

“We are pleased with the performance the company has achieved as a result of the product introductions and business initiatives launched during the third quarter,”: Mr. Lund said in conclusion. “The strength of our operations allows us to reiterate our comfort with the financial guidance provided in our second quarter earnings release. We will discuss the expected impact from the opening of Malaysia, the strengthening of the yen, as well as the financialresults from our other business initiatives following our third quarter release of financial results scheduled for the last week of October.”
