CeraVe Adds Two New Acne-Fighting Innovations to Skin Care Line

CeraVe, a No. 1 dermatologist recommended moisturizer brand for acne, has added two new acne-fighting products to its skincare line: Acne Control Cleanser ($14.99) and Acne Control Gel ($19.99). Developed with dermatologists, each product is formulated with 2% salicylic acid to clear and prevent acne where it starts while restoring the skin's natural barrier with three essential ceramides.

“Acneic skin is shown to have reduced levels of ceramides, which lead to an impaired skin barrier,” said board-certified dermatologist Dr. Claire Chang. “So, in addition to acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, ceramides are a key component of an anti-acne regimen to help restore the compromised skin barrier. Whether patients need a benzoyl peroxide cleanser to help reduce bacteria on the skin's surface or the new salicylic acid cleanser to penetrate pores and prevent breakouts where they start, CeraVe's line gives my patients with acne-prone skin even more options to choose from.”

With a broad range of therapeutic solutions, such as benzoyl peroxide, encapsulated retinol, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, CeraVe consumers can customize regimens to help treat different types of acne and skin concerns. The Acne Control Cleanser works to exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores to reduce blackheads and prevent new breakouts.

In addition to ceramides, the cleaner — which is in gel form and creates a foam when mixing with water — features oil-absorbing technology and niacinamide to help calm skin. By penetrating pores to remove dirt and excess oil, CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser helps to treat existing acne and prevent new breakouts.

After washing, the new Acne Control Gel can be applied all over the face. Its acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic, alpha hydroxy, glycolic and lactic acids help clear acne and prevent new breakouts while providing hydration. The lightweight gel also gently exfoliates and minimizes the appearance of pores while improving skin texture.

The acne-fighting regimen can be rounded off with CeraVe’s AM and PM facial moisturizing lotions. These noncomedogenic formulas provide essential hydration to prevent overdying and its containment of hyaluronic acid and niacinamide help hydrate, soothe and protect the skin barrier without clogging pores.

In addition to the newest launches, CeraVe offers an Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser with 4% benzoyl peroxide and a Resurfacing Retinol Serum with encapsulated retinol and licorice root extract to help reduce the appearance of post-acne marks. All CeraVe products, including cleansers, serums and moisturizers, are formulated with three essential ceramides – 1, 3 and 6-II – to help repair and strengthen the skin's natural barrier.

“At CeraVe, we know that skin concerns impact not only physical health, but emotional well-being, which is why we are committed to helping people feel confident in the healthiest version of their own skin,” said Jaclyn Marrone, vice president of marketing at CeraVe. “As acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, we understand the importance of providing access to dermatologist-developed products specifically formulated to help treat acne-prone skin so that our consumers have the products they need to feel their best.”
