By 2023 the global hair care market is expected to reach US$ 100 billion and the claim of “shine” will be responsible for about 40% of this total, according to Mintel GNPD and IMARC Group.
The association of shine with the beauty and health of hair justifies continued research on products that create and maintain this effect. The intensity of shine is directly related to a number of different factors, such as cleanliness, uniformity and integrity of the cuticles, extent of damage to both the surface and internal fiber structures, color, morphology, hair density on the scalp and capillary fiber alignment.
