BASF Care Chemicals in North America has launched two microsites, one for its personal care North America website and one for its home care and I&I cleaning solutions website, and is also offering its customers formulation expertise for these challenging times.
The home care and I&I page discusses the journey of getting an ingredient or products on the EPA List N, and its EPP program.
The personal care site includes formulation tips and lets customers know that BASF has a ready supply of domestically-produced, plant-based surfactants, APGs, as well as materials that support hand sanitizer formulations.
Together, the sites provide several formulas that should be of interest to marketers of cleaning and personal hygiene products. Formulas include:
Moisturizing Hand Soap – containing Lamesoft PO 65, which uses a nature-based lipid that also occurs naturally in human skin to create an intensive moisturizing, skin-softening sensation.
Wet Wipe Basic with Emulgade CM – a liquid emulsion concentrate, has everything necessary for an effective skin conditioning wipe.
Hygiene Wet Wipe – Because Emulgade CM can also tolerate isopropyl alcohol, it works for this formulation, too, according to BASF.
Hand Sanitizer with Luviset 360 – Luvist 360 is a dispersion of acrylic copolymer in water that excels at building viscosity in a high-alcohol solution; it produces a crystal-clear finish, great gel texture, and works around pH 3-6.
Clear Hand Soap – Contains 7.9% active surfactant. Premium performance based on Plantapon 611L UP, provides extreme mildness to skin with high foaming and simplicity. Only one raw material needed, with salt, and preservative. Dye and fragrance optional. Plantapon 611 L is the higlighted ingredient.
Liquid Hand Soap – 8.3% active surfactant, a premium, viscous, clear liquid hand soap. Synergistic blend provides maximum foam, easy rinsability. 1,4-dioxane-free. The formula includes Standapol WQA-LCK (listed on EPA’s Safer Ingredient List (SIL), Glucopon 600 UP (contains no biocide for preservation. 100% derived from natural carbon. EPA SIL), and Dehyton PK 35 (Water-based and has excellent acid stability. EPA SIL).
Formulation for Industrial/Institutional Bathroom Cleaner – This alkaline bathroom cleaner contains a biodegradable chelate, Trilon M Liq. T, which is very efficient on soap scums. Lutensol XL 80 provides excellent wetting on lime scale and hence boosts the performance of Trilon M Liq. T to deliver an excellent bathroom cleaner, according to BASF. The Lutensol XL 80 and Trilon M Liq. T. are also listed on the EPA SIL.
Formulation for Industrial/Institutional Four-in-One Cleaner – Applicable for use as a floor cleaner, spot cleaner, light duty glass cleaner and/or all-purpose cleaner. The formula contains Dehypon Advanced, which is listed on EPA SIL. This solvent-free formula controls foam and provides excellent formulation flexibility, according to BASF. In eco-friendly formulas, this synergistic surfactant blend provides superior hard surface detergency, compared to NPE or LAE types. Dehyton PK 45, which is listed on EPA’s Safer Choice list, can function as a foam stabilizer. It has excellent acid stability, too. The formula also contains biodegradable Trilon M Liq. T, which improves cleaning performance with stubborn stains. It is 20-20% more efficient than EDTA or GLDA, according to BASF. Listed on EPA’s Safer Ingredient list
Formulation for Industrial/Institutional Bathroom Cleaning Wipes – Contains Lutensol XL 80 (Listed on EPA SIL). Very fast dynamics and excellent detergency on oily soils. Even when used in low levels it can boost the degreasing power of the detergent without reducing the foam.
