When a splash of my skinny pumpkin spice latte makes its way onto my cell phone screen—I typically carry on with a simple wipe using a crumpled napkin found in the center console of my car, or in a pinch, my jeans.
But deep down, I know that denim doesn’t cut it. I know there’s much more lurking on that device than another political Facebook post from an old high school friend I now wish had remained adrift after graduation.
If you are like me, and millions of other people for that matter, your smart phone is in your hands all the time—and it isn’t cleaned nearly as often.
According to some estimates, every square inch of a cell phone contains approximately 25,000; the average public toilet, about half that. Plus, add on the germs that will come back after handing your phone over to a 9-year old for some Minecraft. Talk about dirty digits.
So, as autumn settles in, I’m going to improve my “tech hygiene” as Canadian firm Whoosh! Inc. suggests.
I’m taking Whoosh! Screen Shine—billed developed a non-toxic cleaning solution specially designed for household devices and electronics—for a spin, starting now.
Whoosh Screen Shine comes in a few sizes: Duo+ (one 3.4oz and one .3oz) for $19.99, pocket (.3oz) for $5.99 and an on-the go, (1oz) for $9.99. All sizes come with a 6”x6” antimicrobial micro-fiber cloth.
Whoosh was co-founded in 2011 by Jason Greenspan and Stefan Thorarinson. These former automotive detailing professionals noticed the versatility in the polish they used to detail cars and wanted to expand that smooth, shiny finish to something that they used on a daily basis—like their phones.
Users spray the formulation—which contains a natural proprietary polymer formula said to repel and resist dust, smudges and fingerprints—onto the bright orange cloth and give their iPhone, iPod or Nook screen a wipe, all without worrying about damaging the device.
Almost in the the blink of an eye ite seems, my electronic life source is looking like new again (aside from that big scratch in the corner). But more importantly, it is clean….well, at least for the time being.
