Hal Stratton, chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), will be the keynote speaker for The Soap and Detergent Association's 2003 mid-year meeting in Washington, D.C. on May 20-22 at the Hilton Washington Embassy Row.
Mr. Stratton will discuss the Commission's priorities with SDA members during his address Tuesday evening, May 20. A keynote luncheon address will also be given by Edwin Piero, deputy federal environmental executive, on May 21. The Office of the Federal Environmental Executive promotes sustainable environmental stewardship throughout the federal government.
During a special session on Wednesday, May 21 at 2pm, invited speakers from government and industry will share their experience and expertise on practical approaches to risk assessment and risk communication with various stakeholder groups. They will also share their experiences in establishing dialogues with external audiences, including regulators, lawmakers, and consumer organizations.
Speakers will include: Rick Otis of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Office of Environmental Information; Anne Marie Api, Ph.D., of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials and speakers from the American Chemistry Council and Alliance for Chemical Awareness. The mid-year meeting will also feature meetings of SDA's expert standing committees, which are open to all SDA members.
