JAPAN: Beauty aid manufacturer Fancl produces the preservative-free, botanical Boscia line at its Chiba, Japan facility. Executives said the preservative-free process is a challenge, but Fancl meets it head-on with complex processes that ensure quality.
The first steps in the Boscia manufacturing process take place in Class 100 (a medical and pharmaceutical company class) clean rooms. Carefully-monitored automated systems mix raw ingredients, inject them into air-tight bottles and sanitize the bottles prior to shipping.
Each clean room is outfitted with a monitored filtration system that relies on air pressure design to filter air in one direction to avoid recycling air and target and remove damaging particles from the immediate environment.
After undergoing two air showers, Fancl operators clad in protective clothing, hair nets and face masks, package products, scan and remove any that are not properly sealed or do not contain the correct product amount.
