Today, women alone between the ages of 40 and 60 have over one trillion dollars in earned income to spend and should be living life with more bite. However, a recent survey commissioned by Fixodent of 400 American denture wearers ages 50 and over has discovered that low confidence levels are keeping some baby boomers at home.
More than 50% of Americans over the age of 55 are denture wearers.
Through the recent study commissioned by Fixodent, it was uncovered that nearly seven out of ten (69%) of denture wearers say they'd be more confident in social situations if their dentures had a tighter hold. With 60 being the new 50, many baby boomers living active lifestyles are still feeling sexy at 60 and a firmer denture grip is one way people dont often think of to boost confidence levels.
The survey also uncovered that nearly one in four denture wearers (23%) agree that wearing dentures affects their confidence in social situations. And, virtually all (98%) say that fresh breath gives their self-confidence a boost. When denture wearers are out on romantic dates or with family and friends, its easy to feel confident in social situations when dentures are securely in place.
Not surprisingly, people who are insecure about the fit of their dentures are also more insecure about social situations which might draw attention to their pearly whites, namely dates and intimate moments with their significant others. The survey revealed that while 58% of denture wearers age 50 and over say dinner is their favorite way to spend a romantic evening, one in five feel uncomfortable eating a meal with someone while wearing dentures (21%).
Additionally, the survey revealed which situations give denture wearers the most denture paranoia and topping the list were kissing at 15% and romantic dinners at 12%. The survey also found that younger denture wearers between 50 and 55 are nearly three times more likely to feel denture anxiety most acutely just before a kiss than those age 65+ (22% vs. 8%).
