The Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers (CIBS) held its January luncheon meeting on Jan. 13 at the Manhattan Club, 800 7th Ave. at 52nd St. in New York City. This was the first CIBS meeting held here and it will remain the venue for the all of the association’s monthly meetings in 2010. Among the items discussed were upcoming events, as well as some new developments including the launch of the redesigned CIBS website.
Charles Marchese, the newly elected CIBS president, updated the attendees on events taking place in February and March. He said the Feb. 10 luncheon meeting will have a special new member induction of 30 members into the association. It was also announced that the CIBS Innovation Committee is holding its first event of the year on Feb. 18 at La Palme from 6pm to 9pm, and the speaker will be Jamie Thomas from Stylesite.com. The CIBS Spring Cocktail Party will be held on Thursday, Mar. 18 aboard the Bateaux glass-top cruise ship at Chelsea Piers. The cruise will feature a jazz trio along with the opportunity for attendees to network while enjoying the city views.
The CIBS website has been redesigned, Marchese said, and will make it easier to register for events. It now features a “Reservation Center” that accepts credit card payments for all events. Marchese also took the opportunity to acknowledge the association’s past presidents in attendance– Steve Contreras, William Standwill and Fran Cardiff.
