Thanksgiving isn't here yet, but several companies in the personal care space have already started in on the holiday selling season, as rumors swirl regarding the possible sale of OPI and Colomer.
As reported in Happi, OPI is said to be on the auction block with a $1billion price tag attached, according to sources. Suitors include Coty and Procter & Gamble, but OPI founder George Schaeffer has insisted that his company is not for sale, despite the rumors.
More recently, there's talk that Unilever plc may put in a bid for the Colomer Group, which is owned by European private equity firm CVC Capital Partners and estimated to have generated $499 million in 2009 sales from an assortment of around 42 brands mostly in hair care, including American Crew, Modern Organic Products and Crème of Nature.
In another move, Kiss My Face, a natural personal care brand, has teamed with industry veterans Lisa Yarnell and Ron Gordon, along with financial partner Caltius Equity Partners, to expand in the U.S. and around the world.
The deal will help Kiss My Face take advantage of the forecasted rapid growth in the natural products category. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
