Henkel Promotes Sudhoff
Henkel: appointed Stefan Sudhoff, corporate senior vice president, cosmetics/toiletries, to lead Henkel Consumer Goods Inc. He succeeds Georg Baratta.
Sudhoff has worked with Henkel Cosmetics in various positions for almost 25 years. In addition to his responsibility for the body care strategic business unit and the Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe regions, he has also been responsible for the strategic steering of the North American Henkel Cosmetics business since 2006.
The DeWolf Companies: appointed Julia Hernandez as its new marketing manager. With more than a decade of marketing experience in the personal care and HI&I fields, Hernandez was most recently the marketing and Latin American distribution manager at McIntyre Group, Ltd.
In other news, DeWolf Chemical appointed Bret Schweid as a new account manager. Previously he worked at Akzo Nobel, National Starch and Colgate-Palmolive in various roles.
Markwins International: tapped Michael Cole as its Walmart team leader. Cole will be responsible for both divisions at Walmart; Markwins Beauty Products, featuring the Wet n Wild and Black Radiance brands; and Markwins International, featuring The Color Workshop, ACT and Barbie.
Cole joins Markwins directly from Johnson & Johnson. As director of strategic planning there, he led the teams responsible for product innovation, new item development and consumer insights for all FDM retail customers. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Cole was a senior buyer at Walmart Stores Inc. for multiple key categories.
L’Oréal: promoted An Verhulst-Santos, president of the professional products division (PPD), L’Oréal USA, to managing director, L’Oréal professional products division worldwide, effective Jan. 1, 2011.
Pat Parenty, formerly brand president of L’Oréal USA’s professional products division, will succeed Verhulst-Santos.
Beiersdorf: announced promotions and key appointments to its management team in North America. Iain Holding, president of Beiersdorf, North America, was promoted to the global role of corporate vice president, global sales strategy.
Robert Taylor-Hughes, managing director of Beiersdorf, Middle East, North Africa and West Asia, will succeed Holding as president, Beiersdorf North America.
Magnus Jonsson, currently director of marketing for Nivea for Men and consumer insights, was promoted to vice president of marketing, Beiersdorf. Jonsson replaces Nicolas Maurer who was recently promoted to corporate vice president, global skin care.
Freeman Beauty Labs: hired Patrick Bridges as its new senior vice president of sales. He will continue to build and manage the sales department across most major mass channels in the U.S., as well as in fast-growing international markets. Bridges brings more than a decade of proven success in the development, launch and growth of health and beauty brands. •
Personnel Changes at Estée Lauder
There have been several personnel changes at Estée Lauder, with the creation of new positions and numerous promotions:
Estée Lauder created a new position—senior vice president, global general manager, market development—for its two largest brands, Estée Lauder and Clinique. Daniel Annese assumes that role at Estée Lauder, while Ricardo Quintero will assume the position at Clinique. Annese, senior vice president and general manager of Estée Lauder International, will now operate in the brand’s five geographic regions—North America, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Asia-Pacific, Travel Retail and the United Kingdom. Quintero, most recently senior vice president and general manager for Clinique, the Americas, will now operate in all of Clinique’s geographic regions—North America, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Asia/Pacific and Travel Retail—as well as global education.
Charisse Ford was named senior vice president of global marketing for Estée Lauder. She was most recently vice president of global marketing, skin care and face, for the Lauder brand.
Jennifer Balbier was named senior vice president, global product development, Artistry Brands, The Estée Lauder Companies, overseeing all product development for MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown and Smashbox brands. She formerly was senior vice president, global product development, MAC Cosmetics only.
James Gager was named senior vice president, group creative director, a newly created position overseeing all creative activity for MAC Cosmetics, La Mer and Jo Malone brands globally. He formerly was senior vice president creative director, MAC Cosmetics Worldwide.
Karen Buglisi, former senior vice president/general manager of MAC, has been promoted to global brand president of MAC Cosmetics. She joined MAC in 1998.
