The Mid-Year meeting of the Consumer Specialty Products Association is packed with more than 50 sessions with top-notch speakers representing the people who formulate, market and regulate consumer products, according to the association. The meeting, Driving Change Thru Creative Disruption, will be held May 5-8 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown. Meetings and events will take place around BizHub, formerly known as InnoVention, which is a two-day B2B showcase event for companies marketing to the household and institutional products industry. It’s a chance to cultivate new business, learn about innovative products and services in development, and grow your LinkedIn connection total.
The general session events begin at noon on Tuesday, May 5 with an Interview with Petra Nemcova and luncheon. Nemcova, an entrepreneur, philanthropist and supermodel, will kick off the BizHub series. After surviving the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Nemcova established the Happy Hearts Fund in 2006. This is a charitable organization focusing on rebuilding safe-resilient schools in areas impacted by natural disasters. The organization has built 113 schools. Nemcova also started a luxury scented candle line called “Be The Light New York.” Each candle is inspired by a country, its treasure and the meaning which it carries.
On Wednesday, May 6, the General Session Breakfast & Program includes a presentation by Josh Linkner, founder and former CEO, ePrize, CEO and managing partner, Detroit Venture Partners, and New York Times bestselling author. Following the general session, the Pest Management Division program will include a presentation entitled, “Avoiding Import Difficulties and Highlights on Importing Trends,” by Don Lott, US EPA OECA. Also invited are two EPA Region 5 Enforcement Attorneys.
Two concurrent division program will take place at 2pm. The Aerosol Division program will feature the following presentations: “Recycling Programs in the USA: What You Can Do to Improve Access to Aerosol Recycling,” Cody Marshall, Curbside Value Partnership; “A Team Approach for the Next Five Years: A Path to Survive and Thrive for Aerosols,” Bill Smith, President, KIK Custom Products; “2015 Changes to NFPA Code 30B for Aerosol Manufacture and Storage,” Dave Fredrickson, Fredrickson & Associates; “Update on Alliance for Responsible Regulation Efforts,” Bill Frauenheim, Diversified CPC International; “CSPA Aerosol Pressurized Products Survey Report for 2014,″ Mark Lopatka, Precision Valve.
The Air Care Division Program will include,“Trends in Consumer Sensory Preferences in Air Care Products,” Pamela Dalton, PhD, Monell Chemical Senses Center; “What The Nose Knows: The Science of Scent in Everyday Life,” Avery N. Gilbert, PhD, Synesthetics, Inc.
On Thursday, May 7, a retail session, "Compliance & Sustainability: Two Sides of the Same Green Coin," gets underway at 8:30am. Speakers will include: Wendy Brant, senior manager, corporate environmental, CVS Health; Roger McFadden, VP, Senior Scientist, Staples, Inc.; and Alain Turenne, Division VP, Corporate Social Responsibility and Product Integrity, Walgreen Company.
