LVMH has named Anish Melwani as chairman and CEO of LVMH Inc., effective Jan.4, 2016. Melwani will be based in New York, and be responsible for the development of LVMH activities in North America.
Pauline Brown has resigned from her role as chairman for North America effective at the end 2015, in order to pursue other opportunities, according to the company..
"We are grateful to Pauline for her contributions to the Group over the last three years. Under her watch, our business in the region has continued to develop, and our organization as well. She has been a precious coach to our local teams. We wish her the best in her future ventures,” said Toni Belloni, LVMH managing director.
Brown joined LVMH at the end of 2012, after a career with Bain & Company, Estée Lauder and Carlyle Private Equity.
Regarding the incoming chairman of North America, Bernard Arnault, chairmanand CEO of LVMH, declared: "I am delighted to welcome Anish into our Group. North America is a strategic market for LVMH, with our brands witnessing strong performances. Anish will help us further accelerate growth and explore new development opportunities. Anish will w ork alongside the global leaders of our businesses leveraging his strategic skills and sharing his deep knowledge of the market."
Melwani joins LVMH from McKinsey & Company, where he co-leads the global strategy and corporate finance practice and supports clients across industries. At McKinsey since 1999, he has counseled senior executives of leading global companies on issues related to corporate strategy, M&A, alliances, portfolio management and organization. He has worked in McKinsey’s Singapore and Hong Kong offices, and most recently, has been based in the New York office, where he has advised leaders of public sector institutions in New York City.
