Markwins International has appointed Leslie H. Hernandez as chief financial officer. Hernandez brings a broad range of experience working in the financial areas of both public and private companies to this newly created senior leadership role at Markwins, according to Markwins. In her capacity as CFO, Hernandez will report directly to company Chairman and CEO Eric Chen, while advising the board of directors.
Hernandez was promoted from her previous position as Markwins International senior vice president of finance, a position that she held for the past three years. Prior to that, she served for eight years in a similar role for Physicians Formula. During her time at Physicians Formula, Hernandez also spent a year as corporate secretary on the board, a role which resolved when the company was acquired by Markwins International in December of 2012.
"We are pleased that Leslie has agreed to assume the role of CFO," said Chen. "She has done an incredible job as the senior vice president of Finance for Physicians Formula and her strong leadership, strategic and financial skills make her an ideal CFO for Markwins. Since joining Markwins, Leslie has directly contributed to countless brand successes for our company and we are excited to have her take on this new challenge."
With the new appointment, Hernandez will continue to be responsible for the management of complex business transactions and strategic initiatives including direct communications with the board, audit committee, nomination corporate governance and compensation committees and the reliable reporting of financial results.
"Markwins International is a dynamic organization and I am honored to be given this opportunity to work with our talented senior management team as we build upon the company's financial successes to further increase shareholder value," said Hernandez.
Prior to joining Markwins International, Hernandez worked for Deloitte & Touche, LLP, a professional services firm under which dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, tax and related services to select clients, where she became a certified public accountant. Her multiple years of experience, more than 11 in cosmetics specifically, gave her a deep understanding of the industry, especially as it relates to vendor communications and operations, important areas for the company as it continues its growth across the US and internationally, according to Markwins International.
Based in City of Industry, CA, Markwins International Corporation is a global player in color cosmetics, cosmetic accessories, and beauty collections. Founded by CEO Eric Chen 30 years ago, the privately-held company is recognized as a Top 20 purveyor in the global cosmetic industry.
