Globally, 663 million people do not have access to clean water. As a result, Generosity.org is a humanitarian organization dedicated to ending the clean water crisis in developing countries, one community at a time. Chaz Dean, founder of Wen Hair & Body Care, is notorious for creating the co-washing movement and changing the way we cleanse our hair. Also, he started working with Generosity Water over three years ago and has been an integral part of their growth ever since.
Chaz’s first $5k donation to the foundation helped fund and build a well in Haiti. He visited the community and saw its members flock to the well, pumping water to sustain their daily life. Through his experiences in Haiti, Chaz realized just how precious clean water is and became dedicated to keeping his partnership with Generosity Water, funding 98 wells.
In 2014, Chaz doubled his donation, leading to the creation of 102 wells in Haiti, Ghana, Uganda and India. To date, the organization has funded 678 wells, raised over $4 million dollars, serving 19 countries and over 400,000 people. Chaz’s continued support of the organization is just one of many ways that he hopes to spread his love and awareness of this global commitment to ending the water crisis.
Nov. 6 was the annual Night of Generosity event. Celebrities and high-profile executives flocked to The Beverly Wilshire Hotel in support of the organization to make a difference around the world. Last year’s Night of Generosity raised $500,000 in one night, providing clean water to 32,500 people in Uganda and Ghana!
