Dollar Shave, Henkel, Unilever, Edgewell Personal Care and Colgate went big last night, each with their own TV spots during Super Bowl 50 (aka L, in case you miss the Roman numerals).
Dollar Shave Club pulled off the biggest surprise, according to ad pundits, with its Q1 spot featuring “Zeke the Dirtbag Razor,” which aired before razor rival Schick’s fourth quarter spot. The Schick commercial was the brand’s first Super Bowl spot in several years, and Edgewell Personal Care, used the time to pitch its new Hydro 5 razor.
Colgate opted to make a point for its foray into the spotlight; the spot focused on saving water, with the #EveryDropCounts hashtag.
Unilever’s Axe was present too, as was Henkel, which went big for Persil Proclean, its leading European laundry detergent brand that has recently launched in the US.
