Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, Inc. (SESA: A U.S. subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., Japan) hired Ra’Kia as a chemist to oversee development of hair care specialties for the Cosmetics Application Laboratory (CAL) in Totowa, NJ.
Ra’Kia joins the CAL team with recent experience as a senior R&D chemist for Zotos International where her primary focus was on formulations of Hair and Body Care products. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Howard University, Washington, D.C., and a Master’s Degree in Cosmetic Science from Fairleigh Dickerson University in Teaneck, NJ.
Reporting to Shin-Etsu’s CAL Team Leader Janine Cherette, Ra’Kia’s primary focus will be to manage advancements for silicone usage in hair care formulation performance that will offer a diverse range of benefits such as silky soft feel, detangling, anti-frizz, shine enhancement, volumizing, and straightening. Prototypes for some of these new formulations were recently previewed during the Midwest SCC Chapter Teamwork Show (Chicago, IL)
