Sunscreen helps protect skin from the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays, but since it is designed to stay on skin all day, it can be difficult to remove—and Clarisonic is pitcing its device as a solution.
In a recent study, Clarisonic compared the removal of sunscreen (leading physical and chemical sunscreens, SPF 15 to 30) using their patented sonic cleansing technology to manual sunscreen removal using hands alone. With a split-face study showing side-by-side results, Clarisonic sonic cleansing removed 6x more sunscreen than manual cleansing alone.
In the study, 28 to 30 female subjects were enrolled in each split-face designed study (comparing two methods of cleansing for sunscreen removal: sonic cleansing vs. manual cleansing randomized to right or left cheeks for each subject). Amount of sunscreen, cleansing time, amount of cleanser, and amount of water were standardized in each study. Sunscreen was applied to each treatment area on each side of the face at 2mg/cm2 to comply with the industry standard recommendations. Following sunscreen application, subjects waited in a control climate room for 15 minutes prior to cleansing.
Clarisonic devices provide 6x better cleansing – removing more sunscreen, make-up, sebum and dirt than hands alone. Gentle enough to use up to twice a day, even for people with sensitive skin, cleansing with Clarisonic devices regularly means healthy-looking skin that feels and looks transformed.
For the summer, Clarisonic is launching its Mia 2 Summer Batik Beauty Bag Collection in turquoise or pink. The set comes with a Sensitive Skin Brush Head, as well as a Deep Pore Brush Head for a more invigorating cleanse. The Mia 2 Summer Batik Beauty Bag Collection is available now for $149 at Clarisonic.com and key retailers including Sephora and Ulta.
