A pioneer in the field of silicones for personal care products, Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, Inc. has relocated its Cosmetic Application Laboratory (CAL) from its 2,500 sq. ft. facility in Totowa, NJ to a new, 14,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art facility in Paramus, NJ.
In recognizing the importance of the cosmetic industry to its business, the strategic expansion will provide advanced capabilities in supporting formulators with prototype samples, starting formulations, and hands-on training to help guide and accelerate the development cycle.
The CAL expansion is now absorbed into SESA’s R&D facility, which opened in April 2015, and will provide the distinct advantage of sharing comprehensive R&D capabilities and resources under one roof–including an investment of over $200K in new equipment.
The newly expanded facility is also strategically located within thirty minutes of LaGuardia and Newark International Airports, and will allow SESA to be closer to many of its strategic customers based in New York and New Jersey.
Shin-Etsu Silicones have been widely used to improve the quality and effectiveness of personal care cosmetics products ranging from foundation and make-up products, to skin care, hair care, and sunscreens. Additionally, recent additions to its team of formulation chemists and expert application specialists, has allowed SESA to develop myriad new products for a wide variety of applications for today’s personal care market−including these 2017 product innovations:
• Siliconized Pullulan Film Former
• PEG-Free Emulsifiers
• Organic Hybrid Elastomer Gels and Emulsifiers
• Polysilicone-11 Elastomer Gels
• Amino Gum Blends
“Speed is critical to our customers. We constantly strive to improve our efficiency, and this laboratory will enable Shin-Etsu Silicones to rapidly develop innovative products that meet the changing needs of our customers,” said Shin-Etsu’s CAL team leader Janine Cherette.
Cherette also noted that combining resources and having daily face-to-face contact with SESA’s R&D team, will allow them to optimize synergies on projects−streamlining efficiencies and innovations.
The Shin-Etsu Silicones CAL team will also be exhibiting at the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists Suppliers' Day in May.
Contact information for new lab is: 215 College Rd. Paramus, NJ 07652; 973-339-9077.
