Procter & Gamble Company has resolved its patent infringement dispute with Ranir, LLC regarding Ranir’s tooth whitening strip products in the United States and Canada.
On March 20, 2017, P&G filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Ranir, asserting infringement of US Patent Nos. 5,891,453 and 5,894,017 with respect to certain Ranir tooth whitening strip products.
P&G and Ranir have worked together to negotiate a mutually-agreeable resolution to the underlying dispute, as well as new disputes related to P&G's significant patent portfolio that includes broad patent coverage of tooth whitening strips for years to come.
Ranir LLC said that although the specific terms of the settlement are confidential, the agreement resolves all known patent disputes between P&G and Ranir in the US and in Canada regarding tooth whitening strip products.
In addition, Ranir agreed to certain confidential commercial terms in exchange for rights to P&G patents that allow Ranir to remain in the tooth whitening strip market.
Ranir is manufacturer of store brand private label consumer oral care products, including power and manual toothbrushes, teeth whiteners, dental floss and flossers. TheGrand Rapids, MI-based company also owns, manufactures and markets the Plackers and Rembrandt brands.
