Integral Consulting Inc. is an international science and engineering firm providing multidisciplinary services in the fields of health, environment, technology, and sustainability. Integral recently expanded its Product Stewardship practice with the addition of Dr. Paul C. DeLeo to its Washington DC-area office. A former associate vice president of the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the trade association representing 160+ member companies of the $30 billion U.S. cleaning products industry, Dr. DeLeo has decades of leadership experience and stellar professional and academic credentials. He has directed a $500,000+ annual research budget supporting the human and environmental safety of cleaning product ingredients and developing tools to further advance the science for assessing consumer product ingredient safety.
Prior to his tenure at ACI, Dr. DeLeo held positions at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 8 years evaluating the human and environmental safety of food additives and drugs. His work has been published in the peer-reviewed literature, and he has delivered dozens of oral and poster presentations at conferences for major scientific societies.
Dr. DeLeo holds an M.S. in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. with a research emphasis in environmental microbiology from Cornell University. He is a member of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, the International Society for Exposure Science, and the American Chemical Society.
Through its Product Stewardship practice, Integral assists companies that make and use chemicals to bring their new products to the market, to grow existing markets by maintaining and exceeding compliance, and to distinguish themselves in the market place. Integral applies a life-cycle approach to the human and environmental safety of chemicals and the products in which they are used by providing assessment services to cover the product development, production, use and end-of-life/disposal phases. Human and environmental risk assessment services may support internal product development and stewardship programs for formulated consumer products and their ingredients or external regulatory programs such as the EPA new chemicals program (Pre-Manufacture Notices), risk evaluation of existing chemicals under the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), FIFRA pesticide and antimicrobial registration, FDA food contact substance notifications, California’s Proposition 65 and related domestic and international regulatory programs for chemicals and products.
