During this year’s Sepawa Congress in Berlin, BASF Care Creations was recognized with the “Innovation Award 2018” for its UV filter solution Tinosorb S Lite Aqua. The jury recognized the BASF UV filter because of its special properties that enable the creation of high SPF sunscreens with a light skin feel.
“As the market leader of safe-to-use, high-performance UV filters that help to protect the skin against the harmful effects of UV radiation, we are constantly seeking for new solutions in the field of sun care. This award is a recognition of our commitment to answer consumer trends with innovative products—and we are keen to fulfill the high demands of our customers also in the future,” said Ulrich Issberner, director operative marketing, personal care Europe.
Tinosorb S Lite Aqua is based on a unique technology to bring broad-band UV protection to the water phase. This allows cosmetic manufacturers to reduce the UV filter load in the oil phase for more formulation flexibility and lighter formulations. Distributing the UV filter load between the oil and water phase boosts the SPF and UVA protection factor. Thus, Tinosorb S Lite Aqua is an ideal candidate for low viscous formulations, which benefit from a reduced oil phase. Due to the unique properties of Tinosorb S Lite Aqua, water resistance can be achieved despite having a UV filter in the water phase
The Sepawa Innovation Prize is not the first award for Tinosorb S Lite Aqua. Earlier this year, BASF was recognized with the BSB Innovation Award for its UV filter solution.
