Once again, BASF opened its extensive collection of wines, more than 1,000,000 bottles strong, to attendees at the Annual Meeting and Industry Convention of the American Cleaning Institute. Hundreds of customers and business partners sampled reds and whites during an Orlando twilight.
In welcoming guests, Ralph Schweens, president, BASF Care Chemicals, noted the evening's theme, "Delivering the Future of Clean," and pointed out some of the company's achievements in sustainability. For example, by 2020, all palm oil and palm kernel oil feedstocks will be RSPO-certified. BASF has set a target to keep its greenhouse gas emissions flat at the 2018 level until 2030.
And most recently, BASF co-founded a global alliance of nearly 30 companies to advance solutions that reduce and eliminate plastic waste in the environment, especially in the ocean. The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) has committed over $1.0 billion with the goal of investing $1.5 billion over the next five years to help end plastic waste in the environment. New solutions will be developed and brought to scale that will minimize and manage plastic waste. This also includes the promotion of solutions for used plastics by helping to enable a circular economy. Procter & Gamble CEO David is chairman of AEPW.

"There are many opportunities for collaboration on issues of sustainability," noted Schweens.
