After graduating as a chemical engineer with a focus on process engineering at the Münster University of Applied Sciences, Heinken worked for several years in research and development departments at various companies in the technical industry. He joined Schülke & Mayr GmbH in Norderstedt, in 1998 and initially worked for four years in the application technology department for preservation. In 2002, he took over the role as international market manager responsible for the technical biocide business at Schülke & Mayr. From 2009, he led the technical support department “special additives” within Schülke with a focus on microbiological laboratory service, training and seminars, and implementing holistic microbiological quality management systems (MQM). Heinken is also active in various associations and expert groups such as DGK and EDANA.
