Ulta Beauty, Inc. reported that for the first quarter, sales increased 12.9% to $1.7 billion. Operating income increased 13.2% to $237.5 million.
Twenty-two new stores were opened up across the United States, and the company plans to open approximately 80 more by the end of 2019.
CEO Mary Dillon had a very positive outlook regarding the performance and future of the company.
“These results reflect a healthy balance of traffic and ticket growth, and double-digit comparable sales growth in mass cosmetics, skin care and fragrance, tempered by continued mixed performance in prestige cosmetics. We are driving operational excellence across the enterprise, while investing in growth initiatives to fuel the long-term success of Ultra Beauty,” said Dillon.
She also announced that the company intends to expand internationally, starting by launching operations in Canada.
