Eleven years after creating the It Cosmetics brand together, and three years after L'Oréal's acquisition of the brand, co-founder & CEO Jamie Kern Lima and co-founder & CEO Paulo Lima have decided to leave It Cosmetics at the end of their contract in September 2019. Patrick Kullenberg has been appointed as the new global brand president.
Nicolas Hieronimus, deputy CEO of the L'Oréal Group in charge of the Divisions, Cyril Chapuy, president of the L'Oréal Luxe Division and all of the L'Oréal teams sincerely thanked Jamie and Paulo.
Since being acquired by L'Oréal, It Cosmetics has doubled in size, reached the #2 position in the US selective makeup category and launched in ten new markets. The products have captured the hearts of millions of consumers.
“After fulfilling my three-year, post-acquisition commitment to continue my role as CEO of It Cosmetics, and with the business doubling in size since the acquisition, the time has come to step away and into an exciting new chapter. It’s been one of my life’s greatest honors and blessings so far, to start this brand in my living room, with the mission of shifting culture in the beauty industry to one where every woman sees her own beauty and own worth, where she looks in the mirror and only sees what’s right, which is everything,” commented Jamie Lima.
“It is with tremendous pride that I reflect on the brand that we started in our living room and have now grown to be the second largest prestige cosmetics brand in the United States,” added Paulo Lima. “Something that is only possible due to the millions of hours of work that the incredible It Cosmetics team has put in over the past 10 years, for which I will always be grateful. I am excited to continue to cheer for It Cosmetics and see the team continue to build on the brand’s amazing potential.”
