    Spillmann Celebrates 75 Years
    The company was founded by Gerda Spillmann in the 1940s at a time when it was difficult for a woman to start a business.

    Gerda Spillmann Skin Care and Cosmetics is excited to be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the company, a true testament to the enduring and proven quality of botanically sourced, pharmaceutical grade skin care & cosmetics.
     
    Daring and determined, Madame Gerda Spillmann was a young woman on a mission in the 1940’s. She was passionate about skin care and the ingredients used in formulas to help the complexion. As a young child she was left with scars after chicken pox and started her entrepreneurial spirit at a tender age by asking for samples of creams and serums from her local pharmacist and doctors.
     
    In 1944 in Zurich, Switzerland it was not only difficult but socially unacceptable for an enterprising young woman to start a business. It was, essentially against the law for a woman to own and operate a business. At that time a woman was required to have special permission from the Swiss government. Given the social norms of the time, such permission was rarely even sought, much less granted. Yet after many attempts, Madame Spillmann was finally allowed to bring the skin-care products she had long researched and developed to the marketplace. 

    Even after receiving official sanctions, the problems for a woman doing business in Switzerland were inherent. Social scorn, the utter impossibility of credit, the historical and deeply ingrained prejudices against women in business would have spelled failure to a person with anything less than the forceful perseverance of Gerda Spillmann. Her determination, however, was born of adversity at an early age and by the time she decided to start a business, skin care had become her life. Her belief in her dream was unshakable.
      
    Throughout the month of October 2019 the company will be celebrating with 75th anniversary sales and special offers on its website. Licensed professionals may receive additional discounts. One of the offers will include a special $75 offer on the brand-new Swiss Eyelash Serum—clinically proven to improve the health of eyelashes and brows without prostaglandins or silicone.
