The UK has notified the European Union of its intent to cease membership under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, Brexit, and although the politics are slowing things down, lawmakers in both the UK and the EU have put in place plans for the UK to have its own system of regulation, separate from the EU, once the withdrawal is realized.
These changes are likely to have a profound impact on the way the chemical and cosmetics industries operate in Europe. The UK and EU27 will have parallel, but separate, chemical and cosmetic regulations, and importers who fail to take the correct steps in advance could lose access to either the UK or EU27 market, depending on how supply chains are organized.
Attend the webinar “REACH and Brexit: Is Your Company Prepared?” on Monday, November 18, 2019 to learn more about the current Brexit situation and possible outcomes. Speaker John Hibbs will focus on future regulatory scenarios, and what steps US businesses exporting to Europe should take to ensure that they can comply with UK-REACH and UK-Cosmetics to allow continued access to the entire European market, whatever Brexit may bring. Register for the webinar here.
