Is your beauty brand a start-up ready to move to retail? Target Takeoff, the retaile'rs internally-run accelerator program that provides programming, guidance and mentorship to help startups learn how to scale to mass retail, is looking for its Spring 2020 cohort in beauty.
This will be the third year that Target Takeoff has focused on emerging beauty brands. The beauty department has become one Target’s fastest-growing categories and, through partnerships with brands that go through the Target Takeoff program, Target guests are given access to unexpected and differentiated beauty products, always at an incredible value. Among the companies that have come through the program are Yuni, Girl + Hair and Oars + Alps.
Companies make less than $10 million in revenue and are already be selling in mass brick and mortar retail can apply at TargetAccelerators.com for a chance to be part of the next Target Takeoff Beauty Accelerator. The deadline to apply is Jan. 13, 2020.
The five-week, consumer product startup accelerator is designed to help brand owners build the knowledge and connections to take a beauty brand to the next level. It teaches the ins and outs of mass retail while working with a team of mentors and Target leaders. The five weeks consist of both in-person engagement as well as virtual programming
New to programming this year, in exchange for participating in a Target Accelerator the participating company will provide Target with warrants that convert into equity upon/if entering into a commercial agreement. Upon acceptance into the Takeoff Beauty 2020 cohort, up to two people from each brand will receive travel and accommodations for time spent in Minneapolis.
Target will select 10 startups to be part of the program.
The application process can be started here – the online form has multiple sections that ask brands to share information ranging from the basics (e.g., brand name, founders, location) to business fundamentals (e.g., brand story, product offering and prices, top SKUs, top competitors), and beyond.
