Exhibitions and conferences are falling like dominos, but that's not deterring organizers of the 31st Congress of the International Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC). The event remains scheduled for October 20-23, 2020 in Yokohama, Japan. In fact, the IFSCC issued its third announcement, which includes several keynote speakers including Yoshinori Ohsumi, Ohsumi Frontier Science Foundation and the winner of the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine, 2016.
Other speakers will include:
• Professor Hee Young Kang, MD, PhD, department of dermatology, Ajou University School of Medicine, Korea;
• Professor Emi K. Nishimura, MD, PhD, department of stem cell biology, Medical Research Institute, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan;
• Professor Kouichi Asakura, PhD, department of applied chemistry, faculty of science and technology, Keio University, Japan;
• Dai Kitamoto, PhD, Research Institute for Sustainable Chemistry, AIST, Japan; and
• Hiroaki Kitano, PhD, president, Systems Biology Institute/Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, Japan.
The Congress is segmented into three categories:
• Cutting Edge Life Science—skin and hair biology, influence of external environment, safety/alternative methods and microbiome;
• Future Formulation and Function—powders, emulsions, dispersions and surface modification for skin, sun and hair care, as well as fragrances and color cosmetics; and
• Novel Concepts—sensory/psychology research, consumer research, big data, regulations, sustainability and innovative breakthroughs and concepts.
