Food and beverage stock up continued in the latest week while non-food stockpiling across health and home care showed signs of easing, according to IRI’s tracking of consumer and shopping behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the market research group finds that self-care is becoming even more mainstream during this pandemic, with a number of categories seeing a tremendous influx of new buyers.
What’s on consumers lists of needed self-care products? Leading self-care categories such as thermometers, sanitizing wipes, immunity products, disposable gloves and hand sanitizers saw a greater than 100% increase in new buyers, according to IRI, which last week released its latest report, “Tracking the Dramatic Pivot of U.S. Consumer and Shopper Behavior.”

Part of IRI’s reporting includes its partner reporting with BCG, including its weekly COVID-19 Impact Consumer Spend Tracker for Measured Channels US, UK, France, Italy, Germany, NZ.
