To be or not to be...that is the question of every trade show organizer during the Age of COVID19. Most, begrudgingly, have admitted defeat, cancelling events around the world. The lone holdout in our industry is ISSA, the organizer of ISSA Show 2020, the largest exhibition and conference for the global industrial and institutional cleaning market.
Unlike most event organizers, ISSA has not gone quietly. The show was originally scheduled for Chicago in November. But after Illinois became a hotbed for coronavirus, the group changed course and headed west to Las Vegas. Now, as the number of COVID-19 cases heats up throughout the Southwest, the ISSA is rethinking the rescheduling.
In an email to attendees and exhibitors, ISSA noted:
While we have been optimistically monitoring the viability of hosting an in-person event, we understand things have changed significantly in many parts of the country in recent weeks. Health & Safety remains our top priority and we strive to keep you informed consistently as the situation evolves.
To that end, we will advise you once we make a final decision—no later than August 14th—regarding the continuation of ISSA Show North America as an in-person event in Las Vegas, November 16-19, 2020.
Convincing 9,000 people to fly into Vegas for four days of face-to-face meetings and conferences? That seems like a losing bet.
