Beauty veteran Ben Bennett wants to make Make Beauty a winner. Bennett's beauty incubator, The Center, has acquired Make Beauty and plans a makeover that's for 2021. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. To make it happen, Bennett brought in former Violet Gray art director Carrie Barber who will recreate Make Beauty and have a stake in the business.
Make Beauty was founded in 2013 by Ariana Mouyiaris, daughter of Mana Cosmetics Founder Nikos Mouyiaris. After his death in 2019, the brand went on the selling block.Through it all, Make Beauty has been manufactured by Mana Cosmetics, which was acquired in September by Traub Capital.
Barber said she won't completely cut the Make Beauty line. She plans to keep "cult items" such as The Universal Sticks, The Marine Salve, The Lash and Brow Gel, The Succulent Skin Gel.
