The EPA is extending the deadline for submissions of Confidential Statement of Formula (CSF) amendments for products for which certain formulation changes have been made relative to the pesticide product preservative 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT).
In 2018, pesticide registrants expressed concerns with their inability to access BIT, the primary preservative used in pesticides. To address unforeseen BIT production site closures and significant supply chain disruptions, the EPA approved a 24-month streamlined self-certification process to allow for the substitution of specific sources of BIT or specific BIT alternative inert ingredients when registrants formulated their pesticide product with a preservative.
The Agency is extending the temporary streamlined self-certification process from November 2020 to December 31, 2021.
