There are no secrets about what’s in this new skin care brand. The Art of Shaving Co-Founders Myriam and Eric Malka have created a new line—called Ingredients—which the duo bills as a radically transparent personal care products. The brand lists every ingredient, including its exact formulation percentage, on the front of each product.
The Ingredients range offers three main products formulated with organic, plant-based ingredients in high concentrations. Each contains what the company considers only essential ingredients to maintain healthy skin — plant water, essential fatty acids, plant extracts, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, amino acids, probiotics and essential oils — and are free from petrochemicals, synthetic preservatives and water dilution, said the founders.
Formulas use minimally processed, 100% active plant-based ingredients to create separate plant water-based formulas and oil-based formulas. This eliminates the need for stabilizing and binding chemicals found in the majority of skin care products, such as emulsifiers, texture enhancers, fillers, and solubilizers, according to the founders.
The Ingredients regimen features three-steps:
Step 1: Cleanse & Balance with a soap-free foaming face cleanser that gently purifies the skin without removing its natural protective oils and respects the skin microbiome, leaving skin balanced and hydrated
Step 2: Hydrate & Brighten with a concentrated phytonutrient, antioxidant and amino acid-rich serum that soothes and deeply hydrates, boosts collagen production and brightens skin, leaving skin plump and rejuvenated
Step 3: Seal & Protect with Oil Complex, a lightweight, organic formulation rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9, phytonutrients and vitamins from unrefined marula, rosehip seed and seabuckthorn fruit oils to help restore the skin’s natural lipid barrier, nourish, boost collagen renewal, and restore skin elasticity.
The Malkas sold The Art of Shaving to Procter & Gamble in 2009.
