Smithers, a provider of testing, consulting, information and compliance services, has promoted Alison Schweda from principal scientist to laboratory manager at its analytical services laboratory in Akron, Ohio.
In her new role, Schweda is responsible for day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including management of client projects and a team of chemists. Schweda first joined Smithers in 2017 as a Principal Scientist. She was one of the first staff members of the analytical services laboratory in Akron, which opened its doors in 2017.

Schweda has over a decade of experience in chemistry and research management. Prior to joining Smithers, she worked at Charles River Laboratories, Covance Laboratories, and NeoStrata. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry from Hillsdale College.
