BASF’s kaolin business is increasing prices 10% across its entire product portfolio. The price change is effective for all material shipped on or after May 1, 2021 or as contracts allow.
The price adjustment is due to a strong global demand which has resulted in unprecedented cost pressures in manufacturing, labor and logistics, according to BASF.
In cosmetics and personal care products, kaolin is used to cleanse and exfoliate the skin, as well as add absorbency, texture, and bulk to products. It is commonly found in face powders, face masks, creams and lotions for oily skin, bath powders, foundation, powdered blush, deodorants, and soaps. In hair care formulas, kaolin removes dirt from the scalp without stripping natural oils.
