DSM has found synergy between two skin care actives that improves the efficacy in finished formulations. Balancing the anti-aging benefits of high concentrations of retinol with the risks of skin sensitivity can be tricky. Luckily, DSM scientists have found a way to retain and boost this vitamin’s efficacy while reducing the amounts needed in skin care formulations. According to DSM, combining its Retinol G 50 in Beauactive, an ingredient produced with green technology, helps reduce signs of skin aging by activating PPARα, the master cell regulator that triggers multi-target effects for an improved skin appearance.
In earlier studies, retinol was shown to increase collagen III by 46% and Beauactive to increase it by 68%. Now, in a new study on human skin, DSM demonstrates that using these two actives in combination more than doubles their individual effects, boosting collagen lll by 238%.
